Remote Client Review During a Commercial Shoot

A remote review works when the production defines the viewing channel, approval windows, decision owner and fallback before call time.

Name one remote decision owner

Remote access can increase the number of people watching without improving the quality of the decision. Ask the client to name one person who can consolidate comments and approve the next step. Other stakeholders can advise that person without creating parallel instructions for the set.

Choose what needs live approval

Not every frame requires a live decision. Define the moments that do: hero framing, product representation, performance direction, wardrobe, key copy or a major departure from the treatment. Routine coverage can continue under the approved plan.

Set review windows in the schedule

Place decision windows beside the relevant setup. State when a reference will be shared, how long the client has to respond and what happens if approval is delayed. A remote review should protect the day rather than turn every setup into an open meeting.

Agree what the feed proves

A remote image can help assess composition and performance, but it may not represent final colour, exposure, texture or sound. Write down which decisions can be made from the live feed and which require calibrated review files or a later post-production check.

Document the decision

After each approval, record the setup, reference, approver, decision and any condition attached to it. If the team needs to proceed without a response, follow the fallback agreed before the shoot.
